Conference awards

Conference Profile: The Annual Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs (MACMHP) Conference draws over 400 attendees from government, academia, health care systems, and community care organizations. Executives, finance directors and clinical directors from the State‚Äôs community mental health programs also attend. This year's event will be held at the Saint Paul RiverCentre from September 12 - 15, 2017.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2017 MACMHP Conference awards. Each year, MACMHP honors individuals, organizations or programs who are making significant efforts to advance the local behavioral health community.

2017 Award Categories:


Peer Support Specialist of the Year

The award recognizes a person with a lived experience of mental illness and works in a health care organization using his or her strengths to help peers on their road to recovery from mental illness and substance use disorder.

Nominations Process: Open nominations

Program Innovation and Community Collaboration

This award recognizes an organization who developed innovative ways to promote health and wellness and/or partnerships to overcome challenges to service delivery to improve the health of individuals recovering from mental illness and substance use disorder.

Excellence in Advocacy by an Elected Official

Honors a state or local elected official who has demonstrated exemplary efforts and results over the last 12 months promoting behavioral health policies that increase access to mental health and substance use services. 

Nominations Process: Appointed by MACMHP

Excellence in Artistic Expression

Recognizes an individual with lived experience with mental illness or substance use disorder who uses the fine arts (painting, photography, poetry) or performing arts (music, drama, dance, song) to advance his or her own recovery, help others struggling with behavioral health conditions or increase awareness and understanding of mental illness or substance use disorder in the community.

Award Presentation:
Awards will be presented to recipients at the 2017 MACMHP Conference - Leading the Way to Whole Person Care September 12 - 15, 2017. Specific times of awarding ceremonies will be identified in the notification communications. Recipients are encouraged to be present at the time of presentation to receive their award.
